FREE BUILDING PERFORMANCE CHECK

How does your building compare?

Use twelve months of energy data to calculate site energy use intensity in ekWh/ft²·yr and make an initial comparison with a Canadian peer benchmark.

Calculated in your browser. Your entries are not stored or transmitted.

YOUR RESULT

Enter one year of building data.

The tool will calculate site energy use intensity in ekWh/ft²·yr and compare it with the Canadian national median for the selected property type.

How to use the result

This is a first screen, not an ENERGY STAR score, energy audit, code assessment, or investment recommendation. A fair comparison also depends on weather, occupancy, operating hours, mixed uses, data completeness, and other building characteristics.

FORMAL BENCHMARKING

ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager

Method and source

Site EUI equals annual electricity and natural-gas energy divided by gross floor area. Electricity is converted at 0.0036 GJ/kWh, natural gas at an indicative 0.0373 GJ/m³, and the resulting intensity at 25.808 ekWh/ft² per GJ/m². Peer values are site-EUI medians from the August 2023 Canadian National Median Reference Values for Portfolio Manager Property Types. Results are rounded and intended for screening. For mixed fuels, unusual uses, or formal reporting, use ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
